VNTC-ER Tray Cable

DESCRIPTION
VNTC Tray Cable PVC/NYLON/PVC unshielded control cable UL type TC-ER - E2 color code, 600V.
Tray cable is often referred to as VNTC which stands for Vinyl Nylon Tray Cable. VNTC is made up of THHN (Thermoplastic High Heat-resistant Nylon coated) conductors with a PVC/nylon insulation and a rigid PVC jacket. VNTC is typically rated for 600v and 90° Celsius. In its most basic form it is comprised of THHN singles with a PVC jacket extruded overall.
VNTC Tray Cable may be used in free air, raceways or direct burial applications, and in wet or dry conditions. VNTC Tray Cable is permitted for use in Class I Division 2 industrial hazardous locations per NEC (ANSI/NFPA 70) or Exposed Run 'ER' use in accordance with NEC for 3 or more conductors.
To be approved for 'ER' rating, tray cables must pass additional crush and impact tests. Once a tray cable is marked with this rating it is deemed durable enough to be used as exposed wiring. This means that the cable does not require armoring and that it may be installed outside of conduit or another raceway. There are a few rules to follow when installing these cables. Despite additional NEC requirements, exposed run cables remain straightforward to use and install. If you are working in an industrial environment, they may be the answer to your budget-saving needs. Available in a wide range of AWG sizes.
